According to multiple reports, Clemson offensive coordinator Tony Elliott is set to interview with Auburn on Sunday for the schools head coaching vacancy. Gus Malzahn was fired earlier in the week after eight seasons at the helm.
Kevin Steele, Auburn's defensive coordinator is thought to be one of the top candidates for the job, but officials at the school are also planning to meet with current Louisiana head coach Billy Napier and Alabama offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian.
In an ironic twist of fate, Elliott isn't the only candidate with ties to Clemson. Napier was on the Tigers staff from 2006-2010 and served as Dabo Swinney's offensive coordinator during his first two full seasons as head coach. Steele was hired by Swinney to be Clemson's defensive coordinator in 2009 and stayed in the role for three seasons before being let go after Clemson's 70-33 Orange Bowl loss to West Virginia following the 2011 season.
